Living and Dying in 5/4 Time

 Just Call Me Mr. Noncompliant

I've never been big on planning or schedules in my personal life. In my work life I live by logic and detail and organization. It's the nature of my work. In my personal life I prefer to be free of schedules, deadlines and demands on my time. Now you can see why I've chosen to post my Friday Fun Facts on Saturday. I am forever the contrarian and thoroughly noncompliant. Okay, there are a few areas in which I remain reasonably compliant, but mostly I love to watch the direction of the crowd and march in the precisely opposite direction. That said let's march backward through my FFF's, shall we?

10) I've concluded that intelligence is like penis length. It's not worth much if you don't know what to do with it.

9) I can do everything I need to do with either hand except for writing. I can't write with my left hand. Huh. Come to think of it, I don't write real well with my right hand. My penmanship is awful.

8) I can recall the majority of my dreams.

7) I would rather go hungry than see someone else starve.

6) I cut my hair once every ten years. (It's fairly short now, but it's growing.)

5) I can't bring myself to walk away from someone crying.

4) I learn slowly. (I need to understand each step of the process completely before I'm comfortable moving on.)

3) There is no amount of money sufficient enough to buy my love, my freedom or my loyalty.

2) If I had a tail it would be wagging most of the time.

1) I believe love happens when destiny intersects with chemistry.

 Love Is Like An Ocean

Love is like an ocean
Some never venture past the shore
Frozen with a galvanizing sense of fear
Screams of ecstacy they’ll never hear.

Love is like an ocean
Some choose to wade in shallow water
They let the water touch them slightly
Tears of sadness falling all around
Solitude’s grip holding them ever so tightly.

Love is like an ocean
Maps, sextant and compass
Driven by a strong sense of detail
Hopes and dreams on a magical scale.

Love is like an ocean
Eyes smiling and new
Sailing is just what we do.

Love is like an ocean.
High seas, a sensual moonlight breeze
A lover’s longing deep inside.
Swells riding high on a warm and passionate tide.

Love is like an ocean.
Emotion ebbs and flows
Crests of pleasure and valleys deep and low.

Love is like an ocean.
It is my soulmate standing next to me
Settting sail for the mysteries
That only she and I will ever see.

 Soft Wind

Faces etched in time
A bittersweet smile on a stranger's face
Silent memories like sentinals standing

Sight and sound intertwined
On a far away horizon
And the ever gentle touch
A soft wind always blowing through the canyons of my mind.

A slow and sensuous samba
Fear and imagination melting
A surrealistic blend
Horizons out of view just around the bend

Hopes, dreams and abject despair
Dusty jars of aspirations
Floating far away
Drawn to a new dimension of dark and light
A soft wind always blowing on the wings of elegance and sight.

Emotions like infinite oceans
Lovers lost and lovers found
Sun, moon, planets and stars
Dilapadated highway signs
An infinite journey through space and time
A soft wind always blowing clouds of blue and gray.

An endless circle of life and death and life
Sails unfurled on an endless sea of emotion
The warm embrace of an early summer morning
Standing at the edge of fear
Majestic prophecy written in the sand
Guided by spirits from a strange and distant land

A soft wind always blowing from so very far away.
No words left to say
A silent stranger's smile
No debts left to pay
Sunsets made of fire and passion
A strange and wonderous day A soft wind blowing........
Blowing strong and free across the bay.

 The Animal In Captain Morgan

You Were a Cougar
You are a great leader who has dominance without ego.
You are wickedly cunning and off the scale confident.
What Animal Were You In a Past Life?

This intrigues me in that I have long subscribed to the theory that all of us are comprised of three parts; adult, child and animal. Could this be the results of a little unexpected magic?? And just what animal WERE you in a past life? My greatest wish is that we can all roam together in a peaceful, easy kind of co-existence, sharing the wonders of life's journey along the way.

 When Fantasy Finds Reality

A friend of mine used to say that fantasy was like cotton candy for the mind. Delightful to the tongue but devoid of substance. I'd smile and remind him that travelling to the moon was once just a fantasy. Air travel was once just a fantasy. Cell phones were once just a fantasy. And so it goes. Not every fantasy is pointless and without value.
The ability to imagine and fantasize is a gift bestowed on us as humans. It is an intangible kind of magic that can transport us to places we've never been with people we've never met. It can allow us to envision a future we don't yet know. It allows our spirits to soar to heights we never suspected could be achieved.
Allowing fantasy to replace reality in our day-to-day living might be extreme and yes, there are those who use fantasy to replace reality. Unhealthy? Misguided? Maybe. But what if the fantasies imagined do become reality. Are they still unhealthy or misguided?
The magic I speak so often of is a blending of fantasy and reality. The magic occurs when we discover ways to bring the two together in a way that produces desired results without bringing harm to another. Sometimes the attempts end in utter ruin. Sometimes the attempts are terribly misguided. For those of us who choose to explore the twin horizons of fantasy and reality, life is a fascinating journey.
Become one with your dreams. Take the magic in your hands. Let it lead you where it will. Lead the magic to where you wish it to go. Rejoice in the magical moments. Moments when fantasy finds reality.
