Living and Dying in 5/4 Time

What Flavor Of Ice Cream Are You? H'mmmm???

You Are Rocky Road Ice Cream
Unpredictable and wild, you know how to have fun.
You're also a trendsetter who takes risks with new things.
You know about the latest and greatest - and may have invented it!

You are most compatible with vanilla ice cream.

Alright..... I admit I'm sort've different.....but this is nuts! Oh gawd. Did I say that?? Someone slap me with a dead trout! Okay, all my Streamer Friends.... what flavor are you??? Oh yes. Special consideration WILL be given to vanilla ice cream!

 Dancing In The Moonlight

There are times when life just doesn't feel right.
Times when I'm sad and feeling lonely.
That's when I know....
It's time to slowly dance.
Dancing in the moonlight.

There are times when try as I might,
Searching in vain for that special plane
That celestial kind of dimension....
I know just what to do.
It's time....time to dance.
Dancing in the moonlight.

There are times when I feel lost.
Like bits and pieces of an elusive dream,
Images just out of my reach....
Ships sailing by and me stuck somewhere on a deserted beach.
That's when I do what I need to do.
Dancing in the moonlight.

If I had one wish, and only just the one,
I would wish to make all that is wrong in the world right.
I would wave my wand in the center of the night.
It isn't possible. Not even probable.
It is beyond my line of sight.
But yes, I do know what to do.
I find myself, once again......

Dancing in the moonlight.

 Adult, Child And Animal

There's a generally accepted theory that we are all comprised of three parts; adult, child and animal. I've often wondered if I'm really that way. Apparently I am. And I'm fascinated by how the elements of the adult, the animal and the child seem to merge and flow from one moment to the next during any given day. I think I'm like a lava lamp. Remember those?? That nifty appliance that was so much fun to stare at after smoking a bowl of hashish. Oh yes. Memories of days long gone by. But I digress.
When I was young, life forced to become an adult way too soon. I didn't realize it at the time. It just seemed like the way life was supposed to be and I accepted it. Then I discovered the animal inside me. I let it run free and unrestrained. In some ways it was good, in some ways what I came to detest about myself.
Eventually I made peace with the demons inside and found a whole dimension of myself. That's when the child in me began to come alive. I discovered a whole new me inside me. I discovered the magic and the wonder of flying a kite, building sandcastles on the ocean beach, looking at the world from under water and myriad other experiences that I'd never considered before. I learned to play and laugh and tease and allow my spirit to run free across the horizons of my mind. And so my wish for all my friends on the Stream is this: May the animal in each of you be unleashed, may the adult in each of you know peace and love and happiness, may the animal in each of you know the wonder of unbridled passion and may the child in each of you find all the mystery and wonder that life has to offer.

 The Blues According To Robben

I've been a bluesman since I was young. Ever since I was first introduced to the blues I've had a love of the blues that never went away. And along the way I've learned new appreciation for all music. Everything from bluegrass to classical. But my roots are in the blues. And sometimes someone comes along to give me a different perspective on just what does constitute blues. Robben Ford is one of those who gave me new horizons to explore. I first heard Robben play when he worked with Jimmy Witherspoon. Then again when he formed the Blue Line. His music is fresh and different. Much different than any blues I've heard played by others. It's kind of a hybrid mix of jazz and blues, but not fusion in it's purest sense. When I hear a tune like Good Thing it reminds me just how immense his musical spectrum really is. And that spectrum takes me places I might otherwise not go. It is...The blues according to Robben.

Speaking Volumes Without Saying A Word

I've never been one who watches much television. For the most part television programming is boring and a waste of bandwidth. There have been a few exceptions over the years. One that remains a favorite of mine starred Carroll O'Connor as Chief Gillespie in Heat Of The Night.
The entire cast was excellent. Who wouldn't learn to love Bubba (Alan Autry) and Virgil Tibbs (Howard Rollins).
As good as the cast of the show was, and they were ALL very good, I found myself especially fascinated by Carroll O'Connor's acting ability. He had a magical quality about him that's impossible to quantify, but you just KNEW it was there. His ability to convey emotion without a word intrigued me constantly.
I don't think I could ever envision myself as an actor. I'm far more comfortable being as far as possible from the spotlight. But....if acting were what I chose to do, Carroll O'Connor would surely be the one I'd aspire to emulate. The way he had about him, his body language, his expressions, the set of his jaw, all spoke more clearly than mere words ever could.
Maybe in my next lifetime my destiny will be entirely different. Maybe in that lifetime I'll have a completely different set of preferences. Hell. Maybe I'll be an actor, or for that matter, actress in my next life. If I am, I hope I can capture some of the magic Carroll O'Connor carried with him. Magic that allows me to...speak volumes without saying a word.
